Girls Football Success
Fri 15 Nov 2024The ACS Girls Football team went to a football tournament at Kingsbrook school on Monday 11th November.
Our team consisted of:
Ivy and Mayomikun in defence, Elsie, Bella and Marnie in midfield, Nelly and Romany as strikers and Aria as goal keeper.
The first game felt like a battle because of the constant one on one tackling, ending in a 0-0 draw.
The second game, we felt very confident playing as when Bella stepped up to the ball, we were surprised when the other team started chanting her name (unbeknown to us they opposition also had a Bella playing) she scored an excellent banger, not once but twice! After that came Elsie's time to shine, with an enthusiastic goal with the help of Marnie. Leading us to emerge with a victory of 3-0.
Onto game three, if fate was on our side this game could lead us to the final! The opposition were vicious, it was an endless war against their striker. In the end, our invincible defence battled it out ending the game with a score of 0-0. So it was up to our goal difference over the past games and thanks to Aria's unbelievable saves we made it to the final.
The final was indescribable - everyone trying their best but the result was 0-0....... so PENALITIES had to be taken to decide the winner.
Elsie, Ivy and Bella stepped up to take them - Elsie first - she scores.... Ivy and Bella took great shots but unluckily missed so it is now down to Aria to save the last goal 3....2....1 SHE SAVES so we win the tournament - we all scream and squeal in happiness and are awarded with shiny gold medals. Thank you to Mrs Saunders and Mrs Lacey for taking us.

Thank you to Mr & Mrs Hickson for providing the team with football shirts.

Reception Visit Tring Natural History Museum
Fri 19 Jan 2024The children visited Tring Natural History Museum on Wednesday. We had a lovely time looking around all the exhibits and learning new animal names. We participated in a workshop where we learned about the habitat of the glis glis and several other animals.
The children loved talking about their favourite animals and were all brilliant at finding the animals listed on our animal hunt.
We would like to thank ACSA for funding the majority of this school trip. We would also like to say a big thank you to our parent/carer helpers.

Anti-Bully week
Fri 17 Nov 2023Monday saw the start of Anti-Bullying week when we encouraged our children and staff to wear odd socks, the idea being that we are all unique and different but we can still get along. The children also had discussions during their PSHE lessons about being kind and speaking out if they feel they are being bullied. Too often, people are silent when they see bullying taking place, silent about the hurt bullying causes, and silent when they hear bullying dismissed as ‘just banter’.
During our assembly we discussed what bullying meant and decided that it is bullying when something/someone is persistently being mean/doing unkind things to us. We then discussed who we could go to for help and created our own help circle.
"We have to stop bullying and look after each other" Aiyaan
"Stop being rude to people everyday" Oscar
"If you do it, it's really rude and you could hurt someone" Sofia
"Tell the teacher (if we are being bullied)" Millie

Year 4 - Whipsnade Zoo + Overnight Sleepover
Fri 30 Jun 2023On Friday 30th June, Year 4 visited Whipsnade Zoo during the day to learn all about endangered animals. When we got back to school, we enjoyed our 'free time' on the KS1 playground before coming in to eat our dinner. For dinner we had: Domino's pizza, chicken nuggets, garlic bread and ice lollies!
Then came the really fun part... our overnight sleepover! We got our sleeping bags out and set them up next to our friends. We watched a David Attenborough episode whilst eating our late-night sweet snacks! Some of us got to sleep very quickly but some of us were still full of energy (poor teachers!)!
In the morning, some of us woke up really early (5am!) so we watched a film in one of the classrooms whilst everyone else continued to sleep until 7am. It was then time to pack up all our things and have some breakfast together before heading home!
"I loved hearing a tiger yawn, seeing the bears playing together, seeing the penguins swim and holding a butterfly! I also enjoyed watching David Attenborough before bedtime." Lucy 4MW
"I enjoyed going to see the butterfly house because it was fun to see all the different ones. I enjoyed EVERYTHING when we got back to school!" Lily 4MW
"I enjoyed seeing the brown bears playing together and I also enjoyed going into the butterfly house. I loved the Domino's pizza, watching David Attenborough and ice lollies!" Macy 4MW
"I liked when we watched David Attenborough, ate lots of snacks and stayed up late!" Ethan K 4MW
"It was really fun because I saw my favourite animal in the world... penguins! I didn't get much sleep but it was really fun to have the sleepover." Dennis 4OL
"It was exciting to find some animals that I hadn't seen before. The sleepover was really good and I liked the pizza!" Zachary 4OL
"I liked it when we saw the tigers because I heard them roar. I liked the garlic bread and the sleepover... although I didn't get to sleep!" Harriet 4OL
"I liked when we went to the zoo because I saw my favourite animal (giraffe). The sleepover was funny because we were making jokes." Evie 4OL
