Aston Clinton School Dog Program

At Aston Clinton, we celebrate the power of the human-animal bond in supporting children's social and emotional well-being. Our school dog program, which began in 2010 with the approval of our school governors, has become a cherished part of our community.

Remembering Bridget

Bridget, a beloved member of our school family and owned by Mr. Arnold, brought joy to our children until her passing two years ago. Inspired by her impact, we are proud to continue her legacy through new canine companions.

Meet Purdy, Reggie, and Lucky

We are delighted to welcome three wonderful dogs to our school family:

  • Purdy, a trained Pets as Therapy (PAT) dog, will visit every other Tuesday afternoon with her owner. Her calm, caring nature offers children valuable emotional support.
  • Reggie (a black poodle) and Lucky (a Labrador retriever puppy) are part of The Dog Mentor program, designed to boost children's self-esteem, behaviour, and engagement. Under Jenny Duckworth’s guidance, their formal training began on September 30, 2024.

Reggie and Lucky visit throughout the school week, joining classes, comforting children, and enjoying belly rubs. Our Dog Mentor children assist in their care, learning responsibility and animal welfare while ensuring everyone feels safe. Reggie enjoys exploring classrooms, while Lucky loves chasing his ball on the school field.
