Dear Year 5 Parents/Carers
As part of our topic, The Victorians, we are holding a Victorian day on Wednesday 25th November, when the children will get to experience some of what it was like growing up and going to school in the Victorian times. Due to COVID, we are unable to use the clock school, which is an original Victorian school, but we will make the experience as authentic as possible within our classrooms.
The children are invited to think about the character that they will be on the day- someone who would go to a village school. This would have been a child from a working family, often a farming family or one who worked on the local estate. Children should dress up as their character and stay in role all day if possible!
Please do not spend money on new costumes; school shirts and trousers and old skirts can be adapted. Also remember that it will be cold in the class, as a Victorian school would have been, so wear layers!
Attached are some examples of possible outfits, but anything will do!
Thank you for supporting your children in this exciting experience. Please do let us know if you have any queries or concerns.
